Telecommunications Share Tips

The Telecommunications sector has been in and out of favour with investors over the years. The privatisation of British Telecom, now BT Group, in the 1980s was one of the most high profile share offers seen in the UK. Through the ‘dot com boom’ at the turn of the millennium telecommunications companies were also in high demand as they were seen as key beneficiaries of changes in the way the world operates. In January 2000, Vodafone became the largest listed company in the UK by market capitalisation. This was very interesting given that the company had not even been in existence fifteen years earlier. The introduction of mobile telephones has created considerable value and the sector will continue to evolve in future years, no doubt creating some lucrative opportunities for those with good market timing.
