The tools and equipment hire group has recently carried out a stocktake of its hire fleet and this has revealed that approximately £20m of the fleet has 'disappeared'! The group classifies its hire equipment assets into two categories - those that are identifiable by a unique serial number and those that are not. The latter assets consist of items such as scaffolding towers, fencing and non-mechanical plant and it is in this category that the assets have gone missing. This is by far the smaller of the two categories representing some 22% of the hire . . .
